A common practice is to use a proxy pattern to upgrade the contract logic via migrating to a new implementation contract. When upgrading an implementation one should be extremely careful otherwise a smallest mistake may cause serious consequences exemplified by Open Zeppelin, Wormhole and Audius bugs.
